Advanced Link Manager comes with a feature that allows multiple clients to connect to the same database. This is accomplished by connecting all the client applications to a TCP/IP server that has access to a local (centralized) database.

When you purchase a Server license, you actually purchase an Enterprise client license and the ability to run the Advanced Link Manager Server. You can connect to this server with as many clients as you have purchased regardless of what license type the clients have: Standard, Professional or Enterprise.

The Advanced Link Manager Server was designed to work in Local Area Networks. It does work over the Internet too, but it is not recommended for many reasons, some of which are speed and data security. Use the Server on your local network to access and update your projects without problems and at the highest speed.

Warning! If you choose to use Advanced Link Manager Server over the Internet, you do so at your own risk. We do not guarantee your data integrity, nor do we provide support in this case.

Advanced Link Manager Server features a better security policy enforced by the server authentication mechanism. No one can have access to your data unless you give them an user name and password.

When installing Advanced Link Manager Server you need to choose a "Custom" install and install the Advanced Link Manager Server service on your server and the Enterprise license on another computer. More details about the installation of the Server edition you can find on the Server Edition Installation Guide.

NoteThe Server license comes with an Enterprise client license, so when you purchase a Server license you can connect to it with the Enterprise client using the same license key.
