Track web page backlinks for listings in google maps

As always love your product and it is a big hit on the SEObook.com forum.

I noticed on AWR that you can now track the Google maps 10 pack for local listings, that was a great addition to the product. As a complement to that I am requesting that ALM could list the websites listed on the web pages tab of the entries in Google maps for a specific keyword; ex the web pages for the ten pack result for "Denver car repair"

Not sure how you could do this but it would be a great feature given that:

1. Local search is becoming more relevant

2. Currently there is not a tool out there to retrieve the web page back links from Google maps listings (I even spoke with Aaron Wall and he mentioned he also knew of nothing out there for this type of tracking.

I noticed that you can select Google business listings as one of your search engines as well as google blog search. Since you don't currewntly track back links for listings in Google maps what new information will I be able to track from selecting Google business listings and Google Blog?

Hi,

Google Local Bussiness Results is the search engine that you asked. The difference is that this will not get you links, as you can get with the other search engines, but it gives you the 10 pack results. To use this search engine, please go to Update menu and select the "Find link partners" option. Here select this search engine and enter, let's say the Denver car repair keyword you told us on your first post. When you press Next the results you see in browser when you search manually for this keyword will be listed. When you press Finish, these 10 websites will be added in the Unverified Referrers report. So, this works like in Advanced Web Ranking, when you search using a keyword (we have this search engine in that application too).

Google Blog search engine returns links, like the Google search engine we already had in the application. Just compare the results with a manually search in your browser, using the "link:www.domain.com" command.

What I was looking for out of the Google Maps listing is a list of the web pages in the Web tab of the Maps listing for a business. As you know the backlink profile for an entry in Google maps is much different than the backlink profile I get from running ALM on the same site. Currently there is no way to get this backlink profile except for manually looking through the sites listed on the 10 pack for a specific keyword phrase and viewing the web page tab for each.

If it is possibly to automate this that would be a time saver.

Sorry for my late reply.

We have implemented the search engine that returns the 10 pack results, as we have on AWR. We cannot follow the links deeper, because this will mean two more queries on Google for each result from the 10 pack. Our application only shows these 10 results that Google returns.

Hello,

Since this Google Maps webpages tracking cannot be integrated in the search engine mechanism of ALM(an ALM project does not contain keywords), we decided to create an import tool that will take a keyword as input, search Google maps, take the 10 pack and drill down on the Web Pages tab of each result in the 10 pack. This tool will be a separate tool available in ALM and it's results can be added as referrer URLs or as project URLs. Additional information will also be available for each page found on demand(page rank, title, outbound links, internal links).

FYI - Google is making some changes to the way they show Google maps content, not sure if this will effect your coding but wanted to give you the heads up.
