Topic: ALM does not find the one and only existing backlink

hi ALM-team,

i have got a project with only one existing backlink. yahoo site explorer already listed this backlink for about 2 months but ALM not.

i added these search engines in the project settings:

    google
    google blog
    google local business results
    yahoo
    yahoo domain export
    yahoo domain search

i also checked the "get all available results" twice in the preferences.

i addes the domain http://www.XXXXXXX.xx and the subdomain XXXXXXX.xx as an alias.

what could have gone wrong?

Re: ALM does not find the one and only existing backlink

Hello,

I need more information to see what happens.
Can you please, send me an error report from this project using the [Report error] feature from the [Help] menu item? This could help me see what the problem is.

Best regards,

Robert

Re: ALM does not find the one and only existing backlink

Please restart the application and wait for about 30 seconds when a message shows up telling you about the last patch. Just press on the Install Now and the patch will be installed automatically.

When you run the application now, you should see in the title bar Advanced Link Manager 7.0 build 2.

Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Robert

Re: ALM does not find the one and only existing backlink

Hello,

Please go to Project -> Project Settings menu, Domains tab, select the domain name and click on the Domain Aliases button. Here select the form without "www" and click on the Replace target domain button. You will see now in Domains section the form without "www". This is the form found on siteexplorer from yahoo.

Tell me if this solves the problem.

Best regards,

Robert

Re: ALM does not find the one and only existing backlink

hallo robert,

thank you for your reply.

ok, now 2 links were found by ALM.

question: is this the way you have to "manage" domain aliases? i thought ALM would tread aliases autmatically that all aliases were found.

another thing i noticed: although both links were found and are listed e.g. in the "referrers" tab, the "backlinks evolution" tab is not showing the 2 links even though i clicked on "select all".

i send you a error report in case it helps.

thank you for your help.

best regards

Re: ALM does not find the one and only existing backlink

Hello,

Our application sends to search engines the same query you would do manually. So, if you use in the application http://www.wetter-gardasee.at, a manual search on Yahoo will be "linkdomain:www.wetter-gardasee.at". This is the query ALM sends to Yahoo too. If you use in ALM "wetter-gardasee.at", then the query is different: "linkdomain:wetter-gardasee.at".

The domain aliases option is used only at the Step 2 update, where the application checks each and every referrer obtained from search engines (which is the Step 1 update), to see if they really have a link to your website, for both forms, with and without www.

About the Backlinks Evolution report tab, please select the website name from the left Domains section and you will see the 2 links in the chart.

Please tell me if this answers your questions.

Best regards,

Robert

thanks for the hint. it works. sorry for that stupid mistake.

hmm, i am not sure if i understand the sense of the domain-alias-feature...

if i want all of the links to domain-name.com (incl. to all of its subdomains - e.g. http://www.domain-name.com) i choose domain-name.com as the domain in my project instead of choosing http://www.domain-name.com.

in which scenario are domain aliases helpful/necessary?

This helps when your domain is called http://www.your_domain.com and someone put a link to your_domain.com.

Please tell me if this clears things up.
